Kabul : One US soldier and several militants were killed in Afghanistan, the US-led coalition command said on Wednesday.
The command said in a statement the soldier died of injuries he had suffered in a roadside bomb blast in the western zone of Afghanistan. The explosion occurred on Monday.
It did not disclose exact location of the blast. However, an Afghan police officer had said on Tuesday that a roadside bomb blast injured four US soldiers in Shindand district of Herat province.
Separately, the coalition command said the allied troops had killed several militants during an operation in the central Kapisa province of the country on Tuesday.
Coalition forces searched a compound in Nijrab district targeting a Taliban commander.
Several armed militants engaged the force that responded with small-arms fire, killing the militants. Explosive materials were also recovered from the compound.
