“We are all set to issue reliable provisional regularization certificate, which will mean that the colonies have fulfilled all requirements for regularization. The camp has been organised as last step to regularization of the colonies,” said Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.

“The representatives of the colonies have been invited to the camp as per a schedule and have been requested to cooperate in verification of their documents. Their deficiencies if any would be set right on the spot,” Dikshit added.

The camp would be functional till August 14.

Five separate counters have been set up at the camp that would verify papers of 125 colonies in two separate sessions.

“Only after a gap of 30 years, concrete action has been taken to fulfil aspirations of the residents of unauthorized colonies and 1,639 colonies are being regularised,” Dikshit said.

The government has earmarked an amount of Rs.28 billion for undertaking developmental works of these colonies.

“Permanent regularization certificates would also be issued soon after approaching the Supreme Court,” Dikshit added.

The chief minister said that separate counters of the Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Executive Magistrate and Notary Public have also been established to provide necessary assistance in verification.

Urban Development Minister Raj Kumar Chauhan expressed the confidence that verification work would be completed as it is going on in a time-bound manner.

“The government is not taking any chance and has initiated developmental works simultaneously in almost all colonies. The lukewarm speed, which was adopted last time after regularization in 1976-77, would not be repeated this time,” Chauhan said.

Around 567 unauthorised colonies were last regularised during 1976-77 by the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
