Lucknow : Sarika Chaudhary, the Uttar Pradesh president of the Indian Justice Party, was Saturday arrested for making allegedly derogatory remarks against Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo and state Chief Minister Mayawati, police said.
“Chaudhary made the remarks while addressing a gathering in a programme organised by the party on `Checking crime against SC/ST,” police officer B.P. Solanki told IANS over the telephone.
The programme was organised in front of the collectorate office in the Civil Lines locality of Bijnore, over 280 km from here.
Following the remarks, BSP activists started agitating against Chaudhary by disrupting traffic in various parts of the district, the police said.
