MPJ condemns minister’s advocacy for homosexuality

Mumbai (Maharashtra): The Movement for Peace & Justice (MPJ) (Maharashtra) has strongly condemned the statement by Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss advocating legalization of homosexuality in India.

At the 17th International Conference on AIDS in Mexico City on Wednesday: Section 377 of the IPC, which criminalizes men who have sex with men, must go.”

A press release from MPJ says: “The statement given by Ramadoss [is] absolutely irresponsible. Our country does not require any change in the law of ‘Gay & Lesbianism. We uphold section 377 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) which prosecutes men having sex with men.”

The MPJ has demanded the health minister to withdraw his statement.
