Urumqi (China) : The toll in a highway accident in northwest China Tuesday rose to 25, said authorities in Xinjiang region Wednesday.
Seventeen people were killed on the spot, police said adding that eight others either succumbed to their injuries on way to hospital or died during treatment.
Among the dead were 10 women, police said.
The coach carrying 30 people, mostly students and their parents, had left Akqi county and was heading for Artux city, some 1,100 km from regional capital Urumqi, when it turned upside down in a hilly section of the road.
The students, who had qualified in the high school entrance examination, were on a health check-up trip.
