Indian man goes missing in UAE

By IANS,

Dubai : An Indian man, working for a company in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has been missing for nearly a month now.

Katakkandi Samnas, 28, working for a major Dubai-based company, has been missing ever since he left his house at the emirate of Fujairah July 13.

“Samnas had been transferred to the company’s Fujairah office June 1,” Faisal Abdullah, a close relative of Samnas, told IANS.

“All his personal items are still there in his rented room at Fujairah,” he said.

Samnas’s father passed away in January this year and Samnas went to his home in Kannur, in Kerala, for burial.

According to reports, he was depressed after his return here.

He reportedly took a bank loan of 140,000 dirhams (Rs.1.6 million), which he sent home in Kannur for his sister’s wedding and construction of a new house.

“His family has not utilized any of the money,” Abdullah said.

“They are extremely worried and are calling up everyday,” he added.

Samnas’s mother and two sisters are living in a rented house in Kannur.

Abdullah said that when he called up Samnas’s mobile number Monday evening, it kept ringing but nobody attended it.

A missing person report has been lodged here and all police stations in the UAE have been put on alert.

Members of the Kerala Youth Cultural Club (KYCC), of which Samnas was an active member, has also been making enquiries at police stations and immigration offices in Fujairah and Dubai but in vain.
