Ranchi : Member of the hockey gold winning team at the 1980 Moscow Olympics Sylvanus Dundung congratulated Abhinav Bindra Tuesday for bringing India its first gold medal at the Beijing Games.
“Our ears were craving to hear such good news for almost three decades. We congratulate Bindra on his success,” Sylvanus told reporters in Ranchi.
“This is a great moment for the people of the country. The success of Bindra is more important than our victory of 1980. Bindra has achieved it individually,” He added.
Sylvanus hoped that athletics and other games will be promoted in the country.
Jharkhand Governor Syed Sibte Razi has also congratulated Bindra.
