Anti-terror policy to be reviewed: Pakistani High to UK

London : Pakistan High Commissioner to UK Wajid Shamsul Hasan has said his country will review its policy in the war on terror after former president Pervez Musharraf’s departure to discourage people from turning to militancy.

“We have to stop people from taking [that] road,” he told “Financial Times”. “The biggest flaw with Musharraf’s policy was that he had placed too much emphasis on military strategy alone. How can you win against your own people when they are opposed to you so strongly”.

The paper said the High Commissioner made the pledge as speculation grew that Musharraf’s resignation on Monday would bring new US pressure on the coalition government to fight militancy.

According to the daily, the United States and other allies are keen to see Islamabad turn its attention to security and pressing economic problems now that the controversy over Musharraf is out of the way.
