Death toll of twin blasts in E Pakistan reaches 45

Islamabad : Up to 45 people were killed and 60 others injured in two suicide blasts in eastern Punjab province on Thursday, the state-run PTV reported.

The blasts occurred at the main gate and another gate of Pakistan Ordinance Factory in Wah Cantt, a city located approximately 50 km northwest of Islamabad, said the report.

The blasts took place when the shift was changed and a lot of workers were leaving the cantonment.

Local TV channel reports said they were suicide blasts targeting the workers.

The factory is located in a secure zone and guarded by the army.

Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani strongly condemned the bomb blasts and directed the authorities to make efforts to expose the hidden hands behind the incident.

A suicide bomber blew himself up at a hospital in Dera Ismail Khan in North West Frontier Province on Tuesday, killing at least 23 people and injuring 15 others.
