Life returns to normal in West Bengal after strike

Kolkata : Life in West Bengal returned to normal Thursday after a day’s industrial strike called by the Left-backed trade unions.

All factories and companies have started functioning normally.

Hemant Kanoria, managing director of non-banking financial institution SREI Infrastructure Finance Ltd, told IANS: “We are back at work and enjoying work.”

Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International (NSCBI) Airport director V.K. Monga said: “The airport is functioning normally.”

Life in the state came to a standstill Wednesday when about 80 flights were postponed and rail and road traffic were disrupted due to a 24-hour shutdown called by the trade unions against inflation, price rise and the economic policies of the central government.
