Cairo : A delegation of the Islamic Palestinian organisaton Islamic Jihad has arrived in the Egyptian capital for talks with local officials on prospects of resolving inter-Palestinian disputes.
It was officially reported that the delegation, headed by a leading member of Islamic Jihad, Dr Mohammad Al-Hindi, would hold talks with the head of the Egyptian intelligence, Omar Suleiman.
The talks will deal with prospects of tackling differences in the Palestinian ranks and consolidating the truce in the Gaza.
Another delegation of the organisation, headed by secretary-general of the Islamic Jihad Ramadan Shalah arrived here on Sunday for the talks. Shalah is expected to head the Palestinian side in the talks.
The local media said the planned talks would be part of a series of meetings between Egyptian officials and leaders of several Palestinian factions to resolve the major dispute between the two largest Palestinian groups, Fatah and Hamas, and look into means of enforcing the truce between Israel and the Palestinians.
Hamas has been in control of the Gaza Strip since more than a year ago, when it dislodged Fatah from the enclave in fierce armed fighting.
