New Delhi : The Supreme Court Monday extended the government’s ban on the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) by another six weeks.
A bench of Chief Justice K.G. Balakrishnan and Justice P.K. Sathashivam extended the ban after hearing arguments by Additional Solicitor General Gopal Subramanian in favour of continuing it.
The government has challenged a Delhi High Court tribunal’s ruling asking the home ministry to lift the ban on the outfit that has been termed a terrorist organisation.
