Mumbai : Indian equity markets stayed in the red early Tuesday afternoon, with selling pressure on realty, oil and gas and metal stocks.
At 12:30 p.m., the 30-share benchmark index of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the Sensex, was at 14,345.92 points, down 104.43 points or 0.72 percent from its closing figure Monday. It had hit a low of 14,286.38 points earlier Tuesday.
At the same time the broader based S&P CNX Nifty index of the National Stock Exchange was at 4,302.85 points, down 32.50 points or 0.75 percent from its previous close.
The market breadth was negative. On BSE, 822 shares advanced, 1,483 declined and 99 remained unchanged.
