Former RBI employee sentenced for disproportionate wealth

Chennai : A special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court here Tuesday sentenced Baskaran, a former Reserve Bank of India employee, to five years in jail for accumulating wealth beyond known sources of income between 1988 to 1997.

He was also asked to pay a fine of Rs.2 million for the crime. His wife Srikala Devi was also awarded three years’ jail term and Rs.1 million fine.
