The Left and Muslim organizations have planned to lead a nationwide protest against the exercises like Indo-US nuclear deal and India-US joint naval exercise.

“It is the relevance of the issue that has brought us together. We are against all brands of imperialist forces. The Indo-US nuclear deal is the worst manifestation of American imperialism,” said Forward Bloc’s G Devarajan.

Many Muslim bodies like All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat, Indian National League, Muslim Political Council of India, Markazi Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind, Idara Fikro Amal and Solidarity Youth Movement are part of this Alliance. Civil society organisations as Movement for Peace and Justice, Third Freedom Struggle Movement, Rashtriya Samaj Paksh are also a part of the proposed movement.

But this alliance may not convert into electoral one.

Talking to TwoCircles.net Rahmat Ali Khan, state president of West Bengal JIH, said that they are not going to do any political alliance with the CPI (M). He denied any report like this, when asked about the movement they are going to launch against imperialism.

“We have contested panchayat election with the CPI (M) and occupied 5 seats but it does not mean that we are going to contest election with the party,” he said. JIH will support any secular party in the Lok Sabha election and selection of the party has not been done, he said.

TwoCircles.net spoke to Siddiqullah Chowdhury, chief of West Bengal-based Milli Ittehad Parishad, on this movement. He lambasted CPI (M) and said that they wanted to uproot this party from the state. They are in dead against its ideology. He added that we will put all our effort in coming parliamentary election to ensure its defeat.

Siddiqullah said when asked about the alliance of CPI (M) and JIH that he had no information regarding this issue and if it is so then JIH also be abolished from the state.

He added that his party has started its mission bagging 350 seats in panchayat election, recently held in the state. He informed that they have made West Bengal Democratic Front (WBDF) and this party will field its candidates in 11 constituencies in West Bengal in the coming Lok Sabha election. The party will have an alliance of either Congress or Trinamool Congress.

The Congress high command is also interested in this alliance and they have approached with this proposal. We are considering on this matter and very soon will come on to a conclusion,” said Siddiqullah to TCN on phone.

We have no conflict with Congress and are very much satisfied with its performance. We will contest election together and will not let the left parties to occupy seats in the parliament, he said.
