Approaching the court Tuesday, the petitioners contended that chief election officer had wrongly rejected their nomination papers and there was an ambiguity in the form itself.

Dismissing the plea, Justice G.S. Sistani said: “Reading of the form shows no ambiguity and election process is going on. So this is not a fit case for the court to interfere.”

The petitioners, Tanupriya Gupta, Bhavana Gera and Deepika Deshwal, told the court that their nomination papers were rejected Monday due to a mistake of their college principals and heads of departments in verification and that they should be allowed to apply afresh.

Tuesday was the last day to deposit the amount for contesting elections. The polls will be held Sep 5.
