Dalai Lama again heads to Mumbai for medical examination

By IANS,

Dharamsala : Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, Thursday left his residence in this Himachal Pradesh hill town for Mumbai, where he will again undergo a medical examination at Lilavati Hospital and Research Centre, his aide said.

“It’s a routine medical examination. There is no need to worry. He has cancelled all his schedules, including his visit to Mexico and Dominican Republic, due to exhaustion,” the aide said.

He said the Nobel laureate had been experiencing some discomfort in the past couple of days and doctors advised him to cancel all his engagements for the time being and complete the remaining medical tests that began earlier this month in Lilavati Hospital.

Before heading for his 12-day religious tour to France, the spiritual head visited Lilavati Hospital Aug 9.

Being unwell, the Dalai Lama is not likely to take part in the 12-hour long fasting and prayer service to be observed by Tibetans and their supporters across the world Aug 30.

The Dalai Lama has lived in India since fleeing his homeland in 1959. His government-in-exile, which is not recognised by any country, is based here.
