Mumbai : Doctors at the Lilavati Hospital & Research Centre, where the Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, is undergoing ‘medical examination’, said here Friday that there was no cause for concern and the Dalai Lama only needed rest and medical treatment.
Certain medical tests were conducted Friday on the Nobel peace laureate, according to a hospital spokesman.
The Dalai Lama was brought here Thursday following ‘abdominal discomforts’ and doctors said Friday that “there is no cause for concern at present.”
“All he needs is good rest and medical treatment,” the spokesman for the hospital added.
The Dalai Lama will also join the 12-hour fasting and prayers for peace and freedom that are being organized in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh and in other places Saturday by the Tibetan Solidarity Committee.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh Friday called on the ailing leader at the hospital and enquired after his health.
In view of the scheduled medical examination, the Dalai Lama had cancelled all his programmes, including forthcoming visits to Mexico and Dominican Republic, an aide told IANS in Dharamshala Thursday.
Earlier this month, he had come for a check-up at the same hospital before leaving for a 12-day religious tour of France.
