Nine Jammu and Kashmir employees suspended

Jammu : The Jammu and Kashmir government Friday suspended nine government employees of various departments in Kishtwar district for instigating communal violence in the region.

The employees were charged with instigating communal violence in Kishtwar town and its adjoining areas Aug 12, district administration official sources said.

Further disciplinary action against them is also being initiated, sources said.

The clashes between those opposing allotment of land for the Hindu Amarnath cave shrine and others demanding reallotment of land to the shrine have left two people dead and communal tension is still high in the area.

Night curfew is still in force in Kishtwar, a town 230 km north-east of Jammu.
