By IINA,

Dubai : Memorizers of the Holy Quran from 85 Muslim countries will compete in the 12th edition of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award (DIHQA), which will begin on the first day of Ramadan tomorrow. Ibrahim Bumelha, Chairman of DIHQA Organizing Committee, told a press conference that contestants from Switzerland, Uzbekistan, Botswana and Zanzibar are taking part in the event for the first time.

Ibrahim Bumelha said an elite of scholars would deliver lectures tackling a wide-range of Islamic issues. ”Upon their arrival to Dubai, memorizers will subject to initial test to gauge their memorization ability of the holy book and rules of recitation,” he added. Activities of the 12th session, he said, would be aired live by a TV channel specially launched by Dubai Media Inc. for this noble purpose.
