New Delhi : Indian Navy Chief Admiral Sureesh Mehta Tuesday termed the terrorist attack on Mumbai through the sea route as a “systemic failure” and denied that any “actionable intelligence input” was provided to the Navy beforehand.

“It is a serious matter. The issue of security lapse is a systemic failure and it has to be taken stock of,” Mehta told reporters here.

“There has been no actionable input. Actionable input is when there is a point in time and at a particular place,” he added.

At least 183 people were killed and over 200 injured last week in the terror attack on Mumbai.

According to reports, the Navy and other security agencies were provided advance information that terrorists might take the sea route to enter the country.
