In a nationwide telecast, Qureshi said that Pakistan was willing to offer support to the Indian government but urged New Delhi not to indulge in any blame game.

He said Pakistan had offered a joint investigating mechanism to help net the terrorists who ravaged Mumbai over three days and three nights last week, killing 183 people and injuring over 300.

At the same time, India and Pakistan should not allow their composite dialogue to get derailed in the wake of the Mumbai killings, he said.

“Our composite dialogue was proceeding on the right path,” Qureshi said. “It is in our bilateral interests to keep it constructive and continue with it.”

He said President Asif Ali Zardari was preparing to hold discussions with all political parties.

“It is very important to display national unity,” he said, adding that people had nothing to worry in the wake of reports in a section of the media that India might hit back at Pakistan.

India has said that the terrorists who struck at Mumbai had come from Pakistan.
