Bhubaneswar : Aiming to curb increasing Naxal violence in Orissa, the government here plans to provide specialised training to policemen, an official said Thursday.
The cops will undergo three months rigorous training, particularly in jungle warfare and learn to fight extremists. The training will be provided in a special operations group centre at Chandaka on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.
Confirming this, state Director General of Police Manmohan Praharaj told IANS: “It is almost decided.”
Maoist rebels have a strong presence in at least five of the state’s 30 districts.
