New Delhi : Indian Hotels Co Ltd, the owner of the Taj Mahal Palace and Tower, Wednesday said the terrorist-attacked luxury hotel in Mumbai has adequate insurance cover to meet the expenses of restoring it to functioning order.
“Our company has in place adequate insurance cover. We are working with reputed agencies to sanitise and repair the hotel,” a company statement said.
“Specialist external agencies have been contracted by us to assess the damage and to quantify the costs and time lines for repair and restoration of the hotel,” it said.
The company added that according to preliminary inspections, the Tower wing of the hotel has not suffered any significant damage, while the Heritage wing suffered from the impact of severe assault.
“We are not just determined, but completely committed to rebuilding the institution. We will restore it to its fullest glory,” Indian Hotels vice-chairman R.K. Krishna Kumar earlier told IANS.
“The loss of life is extremely distressing, as is seeing a building as unique as this destroyed. The entire top floor has gone up in flames, but as soon as the dust settles we will go out there and begin the rebuilding,” Kumar added.
