By IANS,

Mumbai : Maharashtra chief minister-designate Ashok Chavan and his deputy Chhagan Bhujbal will be sworn-in at the Raj Bhavan here Monday, official sources said Sunday.

The swearing-in, proposed to be a simple ceremony against the backdrop of the recent terror strike on the financial capital of India, will take place at 4.50 p.m., a government press release said.

A few more ministers, to be inducted to fill in the vacancies created over the past one year, are also likely to be sworn-in at the same function though there was no official word on it till late Sunday evening.

The change of guard is taking place following the resignation of Vilasrao Deshmukh and R.R. Patil respectively as chief minister and deputy chief minister in the aftermath of the Nov 26 terror attack in Mumbai that killed at least 172 people.

Chavan, who was industries minister in the state cabinet, Sunday called on Congress president Sonia Gandhi in Delhi to thank her for reposing faith in him.

He also had a 90-minute meeting with Gandhi’s political advisor Ahmed Patel and All India Congress Committee secretary in-charge of Maharashtra A.K. Antony to finalise the composition of the new cabinet.
