Lucknow : A 70-year old Dalit woman was raped after her son and daughter-in-law were shot and injured in an Uttar Pradesh village. A rapist has been arrested while three others are absconding, a police official said Wednesday.
The incident took place early Tuesday morning when the accused barged into the victim’s house.
“We have arrested Ranvir Singh Yadav and are looking for three others,” Mahoba police chief R.P. Singh told IANS on phone.
Mahoba district is about 250 km from state capital Lucknow.
The four accused also shot at the woman’s son and daughter-in-law when they tried to save her. The couple received bullet injuries on their legs and were taken to Jhansi for treatment, Singh added.
“We have also recovered the 315 bore licensed rifle from Yadav and have also initiated the process for the cancellation of his gun licence,” Singh added.
The medical report of the victim was awaited, he said.
