Islamabad : The Pakistan government banned the group Jamat-ud-Dawa Thursday, advisor to the prime minister on interior affairs Rehman Malik said.
The Dawn News TV channel quoted Malik as saying that the interior ministry has ordered concerned departments to monitor its movement and seal the group’s offices across the country.
It also quoted police sources as saying that the chief of Jamat-ud-Dawa Hafiz Muhammad Saeed has been put under house arrest and the police have been deployed at the headquarters of Jamat-ud-Dawa in Lahore, capital city of eastern Punjab province.
