Bhopal : Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who steered the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to a win in the recent assembly polls, has outlined “seven resolutions” to develop and turn it into a “golden state”, officials said here.
Chouhan’s focus would be on seven key areas – infrastructure development, making agriculture a more lucrative profession, enhancing industrial investment, empowerment of women, expansion of education and health facilities, a firm law and order situation and good governance for the common man.
The chief minister, during his first meeting with the principal secretaries and secretaries of various departments Tuesday, said that top priority would be accorded to the above “seven resolutions” for the overall development of the state on the path of peace, progress and prosperity, an official told IANS after the meet. He spoke on condition of anonymity.
Chouhan directed the chief secretary to constitute special working groups to fulfil these resolutions and said that the priority would be to mobilise additional resources and adopt austerity in government expenditure while delivering on the promises made in the manifesto, the official said.
“The chief minister also said that schemes with duplicity and the ones that have outlived their relevance should be closed and schemes funded by the central government and agencies like the World Bank and ADB (Asian Development Bank) be utilised to the maximum. He also stressed the need for curbing the misuse of funds and irregularities in the implementation of schemes,” he added.
“The administration should do all that is required to ensure that the state advances in the next five years,” Chouhan was quoted as saying by the official.
The chief minister also emphasised the need to provide maximum job opportunities through government schemes and programmes.
