New Delhi : The Assam government has forwarded 25 cases of crime for further probe to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) since 2001, the Rajya Sabha was informed Thursday.
“In seven cases, the CBI has completed its investigation,” Prithviraj Chavan, Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, informed the Rajya Sabha while replying a question asked by member Kumar Deepak Das.
Some of the cases in which the CBI has completed its investigation include the racket in sale of wheat in Assam, death of Assam government’s forest minister Nagen Sharma in a bomb blast, financial scam in Guwahati University and several cases of theft of crude oil.
Das also asked about the number of cases pending with the CBI, to which the minister replied: “Out of the ten cases handed over to the CBI, investigation is in progress in three cases.”
