CBI case against metro official for disproportionate assets

New Delhi : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against an engineer with the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation and his family for accumulating assets, including 11 plots and two commercial buildings in Gurgaon, disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The senior railway engineer who is based in Bangalore had amassed the assets in his name as well as his family members.

The agency also conducted searches at various places in Bihar, Delhi, Gurgaon and Bangalore to get details.

“Incriminating documents relating to immovable assets, movable assets, cash and jewellery were recovered during the search,” said a CBI statement without disclosing his name.

“Properties of the suspect officer and his family members include 11 commercial and residential plots at Gurgaon, one residential house at Vasant Kunj, one guesthouse in South Extension, Delhi, two commercial buildings at Gurgaon, Rs.240,000 in cash, gold ornaments valued at Rs.450,000, FDRs worth Rs.1.8 million and 13 accounts in various banks,” the statement added.
