Three killed in Delhi road accidents

New Delhi : Three people were killed in separate road accidents in the capital Saturday.

A speeding truck hit a car from behind at Yamuna Vihar area in northeast Delhi early Saturday. The collision was so severe that the car was badly mangled and its occupants, Ashok Jain, 42, and Vinay Jain, 33, both residents of Rohini in northwest Delhi, died on the spot, police said.

“The victims were returning from Meerut in Uttar Pradesh. The truck driver is absconding after the incident,” a police officer said.

A 45-year-old motorcycle rider was killed after he was run over by a truck near Chirag Delhi flyover in south Delhi. According to police, the victim, Mahesh Chand, was inebriated.

“The victim lost control of his bike and collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction. He died on the spot. The truck driver has been arrested,” a police officer said.
