Polling station blast kills 11 in Pakistan

Islamabad : At least 11 people were killed when an explosive device detonated inside a polling station in northwest Pakistan during polling for an assembly by-election, TV channels reported.

The blast took place in Shalbandi town of North West Frontier Province, according to the private news channel Geo TV.

The by-election was being held as the seat had fallen vacant following the death of sitting member Abdul Matin Khan.

The explosive device, planted inside the polling station, went off an hour and a half after polling started, according to reports.
