Nagpur : The Maharashtra government Tuesday announced that former governor of Arunachal Pradesh R.D. Pradhan will head a two-member panel to probe the Nov 26 terror attacks in Mumbai.
The announcement in the state’s legislative assembly here follows an assurance a few days ago by Chief Minister Ashok Chavan.
The committee will in two months submit its probe report into the attacks, which left over 170 people dead and nearly 300 injured.
A retired civil servant, Pradhan was union home secretary in the mid-1980s during the tenure of then prime minister Rajiv Gandhi. He also worked as a diplomat and has authored several books.
An IAS officer from the Maharashtra cadre, Pradhan had also played a crucial role during the peace process to resolve the insurgency problems in Assam and Mizoram which culminated in the signing of the peace accords with militant groups in northeast.
