Mathura : A man committed suicide after shooting and critically injuring his Australian lover in Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura town early Saturday, the police said.
The man, identified as Sonu, shot the woman at about 2 a.m. after an argument. After that he shot himself dead.
The Australian, identified as Leela, was initially admitted to the Apollo Hospital in Agra. She was shifted later to the New Delhi branch of the hospital.
“We sent her to Delhi as she has sustained multiple bullet injuries and was in a critical condition,” Pankaj Mahendru, director of Agra’s Apollo Hospital, told IANS.
Leela is a devotee of Hindu lord Krishna and used to often visit India on pilgrimage. She was residing in Raman Reti area of Vrindavan in Mathura, police sources said.
