Jerusalem : Invading Israeli troops killed two Islamic Jihad gunmen and seriously wounded a third one on early Monday during a raid on the West Bank town Jenin, local daily Ha’aretz reported on its website.
The Israeli special forces killed the gunmen in an exchange of fire which developed during an arrest operation for wanted militants in the town. Israeli troops found rifles and ammunition on the bodies of the militants, according to the report.
The Israeli army arrested a total of ten wanted Palestinians across the West Bank overnight, it said.
Some two weeks ago, the Israeli army killed senior Islamic Jihad militant Walid Obaydi, 45, in a gun battle in Jenin. Obaydi was said to be the leader of the group’s military wing for northern West Bank.
