Manama : Kuwait and Bahrain concluded three accords and four memorandums of understanding (MoUs) to enhance cooperation between the two GCC states at the closing of the two-day fourth session of the Kuwaiti-Bahraini Higher Committee.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Dr Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah signed the agreements Sunday on behalf of Kuwait while Bahraini Foreign Minister Sheikh Khaled Bin Ahmad Al Khalifa, along with other respective ministers signed them on behalf of the kingdom.

The agreements and MoUs deal with civil aviation as well as cooperation in the fields of audio-visual media, culture, tourism, sports, education and environment.

The two sides also agreed to have more cooperation in the political, economic, trade, investment, civil service, municipal affairs, women’s affairs and agricultural fields.

Sheikh Mohammad, who was speaking in a joint press conference with Sheikh Khaled, said the agreements were the fruit of instructions by Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and Bahraini King Sheikh Hamad Bin Issa Al Khalifa.

Sheikh Mohammad said both sides saw eye to eye on the various matters discussed and added that Kuwaitis and Bahrainis form one tribe whose members are united by historical ties and geographically separated by a stretch of seas.

He added that the agreements signed represent a significant achievement between the two sides.

For his part, Sheikh Khaled said the agreements signed are in line with the general approach and spirit of the GCC.

He added that the two states have more in common than just what was in the agreements signed.
