Moscow : All exercises scheduled in the joint maneuvers by the Russian Air Force and Navy over the Atlantic and Arctic oceans were successfully accomplished, a military source confirmed Sunday.
Over one hundred flights carried out mock battles, reconnaissance missions, patrolling, and refuelling. The operations included bombing and missile launching against supposed enemy naval and air groups, according to a release by the Russian Air Force.
The text added that TU-160 supersonic heavy bombers, TU-95Ms and TU-22M3 strategic missile carriers, IL-78 flying cisterns, as well as radio-electronic reconnaissance planes A-50 took part in the drills.
Air Force General Staff Chief Igor Jvorov said that the exercises fully complied with the International Law, and no plane violated the airspace of another country.
The Air Force and Navy operative groups will maintain permanent patrolling over the Atlantic, Pacific, and Arctic oceans, as well as over the Black Sea, following a command by President Vladimir Putin in August, the sources concluded.
