Dubai : UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has held a meeting at his Za’abeel palace here the Mideast Quartet special envoy Tony Blair.
During the meeting Sunday, Blair briefed Sheikh Mohammed about his mission to the Middle East, which, he said, centres on narrowing the differences between the Palestinians and Israelis, to reach a just and honourable solution that would lead to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
Sheikh Mohammed urged Blair to use his vast political experience and exert great efforts to solve the problem.
He also urged him to see the Palestinian issue as a just issue that deserves more attention from the United Nations and the great countries of the world. This, he said, is to achieve justice and equality for all the peoples in the region.
Present at the meeting were Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Deputy Ruler, Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Civil Aviation Department and president of the Emirates Airline, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gargawi, Minister of State for Federal National Council affairs, Dr Anwar Mohammed Gargash and the British Consul-General in Dubai.
