New Delhi : Flu has forced Thailand’s Asian No.8 Thongchai Jaidee and Sweden’s Michael Jonzon to withdraw on the eve of the maiden $2.5 million EMAAR-MGF Indian Masters golf tournament here Wednesday.
Jaidee’s withdrawal from the tournament, which is sanctioned by the European Tour, the Asian Tour as well as the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI), is especially a setback for the organisers.
He finished eighth in the Asian Order of Merit last year and was sure to give some of the top golfers a run for their money in the tournament, which will be played at the par-72 Lodhi Course of the Delhi Golf Club.
