Among others, the chamber’s vice-president and ICICI Bank CEO K.V. Kamath, Chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climatic Change R.K. Pachauri and the nation’s only Formula One racer Narain Karthikeyan would participate.

The summit’s chair Jay Galla told reporters here that this year’s exercise would focus on the weaknesses and threats that are the other side of the coin of the success story called India.

“‘Wake up India’ is a strong, provocative theme to alert all stakeholders in India’s growth story. We have to assess the risks and especially the risks relating to climate change that could derail our march ahead,” Galla said.

The programme will work towards developing a plan of action for the nation’s future, said Shankar Vanavarayar, chair Yi’s Coimbatore chapter.

Six key risks that can impede the nation’s future – problems of fresh water supply, the northward bound oil prices, economic impacts of demographics, globalisation versus protectionism, climatic changes and the spread the scourges of HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis – will be thoroughly assessed, a CII communiqué said.
