New Delhi : Chief electoral officers (CEO) of all states reviewed poll preparations and revision of electoral rolls at a meeting Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) N. Gopalaswamy called here Thursday.
Election Commission sources said the CEOs discussed the revision of electoral rolls in the states. Gopalaswamy has shown his concern over faulty preparations of electoral rolls and failure in revising them from time to time.
“There are still several problems with the rolls as they have not been updated as frequently and effectively as it should be done,” said an Election Commission official.
“This is a routine, quarterly meeting but in view of the high number of states going to polls this year, it was called in February instead of March,” the official said.
The CEC, two election commissioners and the three deputy election commissioners along with the CEOs of states attended the meeting.
The 10 states that go to polls this year also figured separately in the meeting, informed sources said.
