Moscow – (IINA) February 09 – The Russian Ifta Council announced plans to hold the annual poetry competition on Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) next month. The competition titled “Prophet Muhammad: Mercy to the Mankind” will be opened to all people of Russia, both Muslims and non-Muslims, according to Mustafa, deputy head of the Ifta Council. “Supervisory Committee will entertain only original poetic works that were published not earlier. The entries shall be focused on the biography of the Prophet as well as his contributions to the mankind through the ages,” he told Russia’s Itar Tass news agency.
The deputy mufti noted that nearly two-third of the contestants who participated last year’s competition were non-Muslims. Many of them bagged prizes in the competition, he said. The jury of the contest would comprise several prominent Islamic scholars and academics from various parts of the country, he added.
