Bhopal: A Kisan Mahapanchayat is going to be organised by the Madhya Pradesh Government here on February 14 with a view to holding discussions on the problems being faced by farmers and informing them about various schemes.
The Kisan Mahapanchayat would be presided over by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Four farmers from every Gram Panchayat will participate in Kisan Mahapanchayat at the district level coordination would be made by the concerning collector with full cooperation by Deputy Director Farmers Welfare and Agriculture Development.
Farmers’ Welfare and Agriculture Development and Cooperative Minister Gopal Bhargava reviewed the preparations being made for Kisan Mahapanchayat at Jamboree Maidan yesterday. Entire necessary arrangements and works for Kisan Mahapanchayat would be done under the supervision of Bhopal Divisional Commissioner.
The list of representatives likely to take part at the Kisan Mahapanchayat would be given final touches by the collectors at the district level after consultation with local public representatives. About 90,000 to one lakh farmers’ representatives are likely to take part in Kisan Mahapanchayat. Concerning district collectors would make arrangement of buses for sending farmers’ representatives. With every bus one contact officer from district’s Farmers’ Welfare and Agriculture Development Department would be deputed.
Public Relations, Agriculture, Cooperative and other departments would jointly organise an exhibition at the site highlighting implementation of various welfare programmes of the state government. All the departments would also distribute literature and information about their respective public welfare programmes available at the exhibition.
Principal Secretary, Farmers’ Welfare and Agriculture Development Department Pravesh Sharma has instructed all the concerned officers that all sections of farmers should be included in the selection of farmers’ representatives for Kisan Mahapanchayat. Special attention should be given in this connection to small, marginal and women farmers. Farmers connected to horticulture, animal husbandry and pisciculture should also be selected.
