Coalition troops arrest suspected Taliban facilitator

Kabul : The US-led coalition troops said they had captured a key insurgent facilitator during a search operation in the southeastern Khost province of the troubled country. A statement from the coalition’s Bagram base here Tuesday said the known Taliban commander Naseemullah was arrested during a joint operation with Afghan police in Yaqoobi district.

Naseemulla is suspected of being a key Taliban facilitator responsible for several attacks against Afghan National Security Forces using improvised explosive devices, said the statement. He is also suspected of commanding an IED emplacement cell based in the Sabari district and travels throughout Khost and Paktika provinces to conduct attacks against security forces and civilians, it added.

Meanwhile, two civilian were injured in Kandahar province by an improvised explosive device remotely detonated by suspected insurgents, says another statement. The two villagers were walking on a heavily-traveled roadway near in the Shah Walikot district when the villagers spotted IED materials in the roadway. The villagers alerted a passing convoy of Afghan National Army and Coalition soldiers. When the convoy stopped, an insurgent remotely detonated the device injuring the two Afghans, the statement informed.
