Santiago : Chilean tennis player Fernando Gonzalez, currently ranked 16th in the world and recovering from an abdominal injury, plans to return to the ATP circuit with the Masters Series at Indian Wells, California starting March 13.
Fernandez said at the Clinica Meds health centre in Santiago Tuesday that he will be skipping this month’s tournaments in the US cities of Memphis, Las Vegas and San Jose.
Gonzalez suffered an abdominal injury in late January during a tournament in Vina del Mar, Chile, which he went on to win.
“I have not felt a lot of pain, fortunately it is nothing serious. But it can be the beginning of something serious if I do not take care of myself. Doctors recommended that I stop and put a brake on the pain,” the Chilean said.
