Fayyad’s advisor on Jerusalem affairs Hatem Abdel Qader was released on Tuesday afternoon following a few hours of interrogation at an Israeli facility in a Jerusalem settlement.

Abdel Qader told reporters that he was questioned about a rally he organized in Jerusalem to support the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip which is facing an Israeli blockade.

The Israeli interrogators also questioned him for anti-settlement demonstrations and other Palestinian National Authority (PNA) activities in the holy city, he added.

Abdel Qader accused Israel of trying to create its existence “in Jerusalem through settlement, land confiscation and preventing the Palestinians from protesting.”
