Damascus : A car explosion killed one person here Tuesday evening in a residential area, a Syrian paper reported on Wednesday.
Al-Watan paper said a civilian car exploded at about 10:30 p.m. local time (11:30 p.m. Kuwait time) in a parking lot in Kafar Soussa residential neighborhood.
The explosion damaged three other vehicles and broke the windows of neighboring buildings, it added.
The explosion was not caused by a bomb but by the burning of the fuel tank, it also pointed out.
Syrian security authorities are investigating the incident.
