Chandigarh : The cold wave conditions continued in Punjab and Haryana with Amritsar recording a low of minus 1.4 degrees Celsius.
The low at Amritsar was seven degrees below the normal. Patiala braved the chill at 3.1 C, down six degrees, the Meteorological Department said here.
Ludhiana also braved a cold night at 4 C, down four degrees.
Chandigarh saw the minimum decrease by a degree since yesterday to settle at 5.2 C.
In Haryana, Karnal was the coldest place recording a low of 1.8 C, seven notches below normal.
Ambala recorded a low of 3.5 C, six notches below normal while the chill also swept Narnaul at 3.7 C, down four degrees.
Hisar recorded a low of 5.7 C.
The maximum temperatures in the two states have been rising during the past three to four days.
Piercing cold continued to have most of Himachal Pradesh under its effect, with Kalpa town registering a low of minus 8.7 C while Shimla recorded a low of 0.7 C, down two degrees.
