Kuwait : The Kuwait Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) signed Wednesday a memo of understanding with Syria’s aviation authorities to increase air transportation and flight activities between both states.
DGCA chairman Fawaz Al-Farrah in statements to KUNA indicated that the agreements were part of Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah’s official two-day visit to Damascus which ended Tuesday.
Discussions with aviation authorities in Syria resulted in the increase of flights to Damascus to 28 on weekly bases, said Al-Farrah, adding that flights to Aleppo was also increased to 14 flights a week.
He said that both sides agreed to assign the Kuwait National Airlines Company as the third group to provide airline services alongside Kuwait Airways Corporation (KAC) and Al-Jazzera airline.
Kuwaiti-Syrian authorities also agreed to establish Al-Sham Pearl Airline Company as the second airline company in Syria along with Syrian Arab Airlines (Syria Air), concluded Al-Farrah.
DGCA is participating in Sheikh Nasser’s Arab tour which includes Syria, Egypt, and Jordan.
