“Women from all political parties have extended support to the rally. They are not coming out openly but have assured all assistance to make it a grand success,” Kiran Maheshwari, national chairperson of the women’s wing, told reporters here Thursday.

Lashing out at the ruling United Progressive Alliance (UPA), she said the union government was not serious about ensuring 33 percent reservation for women.

“The organisation has decided to come out to the streets to mount pressure on the union government,” she said, adding that more than 100,000 women will gather in the national capital for the rally. Special trains will be arranged for the activists to reach New Delhi.

Maheshwari added that the BJP honoured women by reserving 33 percent posts for them in the organisational set-up. “Within two months, the posts from ward to state level would be filled,” she said.

She further assured the women activists in Chhattisgarh that she would take initiative to ensure 33 percent women would contest in the upcoming assembly elections, to be held in November this year.
